About Mering Global
Mering Global have been helping brands around the world with their manufacturing since 2014. We work with customers to develop products in the consumer goods space, often looking after the whole product development lifecycle from sourcing and manufacturing, through to delivery.

 

The role:
We’re seeking an experienced Account Manager to join our growing team. You’ll be working closely with existing and new customers, developing the accounts for mutual success, in addition to coordinating and managing the sourcing and development of products. You’ll be responsible for financial performance as well as ensuring a consistently excellent customer experience.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with looking after multiple projects across product groups (primarily: packaging, glassware, beauty, home goods, boardgames and toys, promotional), with a focus on ensuring successful, sale-ready products through a combination of past product development and account management experience. You’ll need a strategic and highly creative/design focused mindset, and an exceptional ability to understand and expand product requirements, provide sustainable solutions, mitigate risks, and build trust and confidence through meaningful, proactive dialogue to build long-term partnerships.

Other notes:

We are a small company with offices in Hong Kong and Beijing. Your colleagues will be primarily located in Beijing, products are primarily manufactured across Asia, and customers are located around the world but predominantly North America. This position currently reports directly to the company CEO.

 

Success in this role looks like:

  • Factory liaisons have all the information and understanding they need to manage and develop the product with the factories, with you stepping in if needed
  • Successful translation of high-level project concepts and ideas from customers into actionable, detailed sourcing and quality control requirements, including identification of risk, product and knowledge gaps, and areas for development
  • Products are delivered on time, adhering to quality requirements and customer’s product requirements
  • Knowledge of the latest consumer goods companies and brands, and a finger on the pulse with product and material trends
  • Confident, knowledgeable communication on projects with stakeholders, including senior management, customers, factory owners and staff, and colleagues

 

Core responsibilities:

  • Act as a highly visible, respected and trusted adviser to customers; engage and support projects throughout the project life cycle including customer/internal meetings, demonstrating a sound understanding of our services, managing customer expectations (and working to exceed them), and ensuring products meet objectives, product requirements, timelines, and due diligence
  • Daily communication with all stakeholders and management of factory liaisons and sourcing teams
  • Successfully manage and deliver multiple customer projects and products, knowing every detail of the product and ensuring all respective documentation and processes are created, maintained and completed
  • Demonstrate strong creative and strategic judgement to ensure work is consistently of the highest quality, and any risks and issues are clearly communicated with solutions to clients
  • Ability to provide product, process, material, delivery or design recommendations where required
  • Manage time, work flow and schedule in order to meet strict and sometimes aggressive deadlines, and knowing when priorities need to be changed
  • Able to set boundaries clearly to avoid scope creep, and handle challenging situations appropriately
  • Fully understand customer’s competitive issues, product requirements, business challenges, opportunities and industry trends
  • Act as mentor to junior members of the team to help develop their skills and experience
  • Contribute to new business – meeting prospective clients, identifying new opportunities, creating proposals, and developing customer-facing project management and product documents

 

Requirements:

  • A deep understanding of and passion for product development
  • At least 3 years of account management experience, preferably with product development and sourcing experience whether for creative agencies or within consumer goods space
  • Excellent at powerpoint, excel and can navigate Adobe Illustrator
  • Fluent or native English is required, a bonus if you have Mandarin language abilities
  • Ability to think outside the box and creatively, enjoying picking apart complex concepts and design ideas to identify risks and questions, outline product requirements and determine solutions
  • Ability to work on different time zones where necessary
  • Superb communication skills (oral, written, negotiation, sales), and the ability to build very strong relationships internally and externally at all levels and positions
  • A passion and drive to improve and better sustainability in manufacturing
  • Proven track record with developing long-term, trusted client relationships
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining focus and productivity, and successful management of others
  • Highly organized, driven individual with a high attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate, process and drive multiple projects and priorities
  • Ability to travel globally
  • Experienced and avid researcher, able and willing to learn about new materials, processes, industry and product trends
